What is Flutr?

Flutr is a new way for Butterfly Gardens around the world to track the keep track of the butterflies they have in their habitats. The idea for Flutr was conceived by Nathan Brockman, the curator of the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing at Reiman Gardens in Ames, IA. Mr. Brockman says that despite the fact that butterfly gardens around the world are completing essentailly the same process, they don't have a common system or procedure. He has tasked my senior design group with not just providing Reiman Gardens with a good tool to track their information, but to create it in such a way that it can be given to any garden that would like to use it, and help unify the field.

Using Flutr, Butterfly Gardens Can:

• Enter information about their butterfly shipments (i.e. Supplier, Region, Count, Species, Damages, etc.)
• Mark different butterflies from the afformentioned shipments as released.
• Generate required reports for the USDA at the end of the year.
• Serve a guest friendly webpage to their guests providing information about the butterflies their habitat contains using the collected data.
